The Lowdown
This winter OPU is holding a community Tournament sponsored by me. Anyone can enter and anyone can win! There are prizes for all third and fourth tier winners and a grand prize!
The Details
The tournament will consist of a series of multiplayer 3v3, 2v2 and 1v1 Outpost 2 matches. The Tournament will only happen if we get enough entries, justifying the expense of the prizes so we need anyone interested to post in this thread and tell us you want to enter! The number of tiers will depend on the number of entries, but the final 3 tiers will be where prizes are awarded.
The Prizes
The Grand Prize winner will receive a full-retail copy of Battlefield 2142 (http://battlefield.ea.com/battlefield/bf2142/)! Third and second tier prizes will be announced soon.

id like to win a copy of op2 not battlefield :P but great idea offering a prize i guess. i would like to see more people playing op2 and this could help but we need something long term. something to help get people playing the game, like WD maybe.
im interested in playing op2 always :D
its a nice idea and as always appreciate the effort. i hope to play some op2 over xmas period and im realy looking forward to xmas :D
and were not relay here to promote that you must be the best and try harder or play one way, its about taking part and having fun!

Lets spread the word about the tourney to some of the forum loafers! Pass the link to this thread around IRC or to anyone returning/new to the forum. We need at least 12 confirmed players!

Sounds cool but DAMNIT! If only i was a little better at op2 :) Im pretty sure im am the weakest on this forum.

he did. I rock against the computer, but I haven't had the exp in any multi player game. There is only one game I can play online it seems, and thats Freelancer

I'll play but I have a question about HOW the winner will obtain the prize. I know for a FACT that u can't just use a cdkey associated with a account (if this is a USED copy don't even think about it). Would the winner obtain a "boxed" copy of the game or will the winner recieve a code for a $50 credit for the EA downloader? It sounds too good to be true but I'm in

Uhh.... what? I didnt know EA had a content delivery system.
Just so everyone is clear, if you win the grand prize you win a BOXED copy of the game. Im not sending you a copy of my install key, Im not sending you warez. The winner will give me their shipping address, I will buy the game online and have it shipped to the winner. Regions will be considered, so if you live in the UK you will receive the UK version - if you live in Brazil you will receive the Brazillian version, etc...
I will also compensate for in-country shipping (its probably included in the price anyway).

Well actually, Id be willing to award any game of similar price. Ill be ordering it online, so it wouldnt take anything extra to just order a different game. Its up to the winner.

Looks like there are some good ones here, this will be tough.

i will setup the ladder a few days after christmas. i know you guys want more than 1v1 so i think i will make some team games in the earlier tiers and then move into 1v1. i think that transition will be interesting :) see the tables turn when suddenly the latent 1v1 pros start to blossom :P

it should be 1v1 the whole way thru on the same map imo.. a fair one for all players, nostalgia. but i guess we can do any map as long as both players agree on it. so the players pick the map. and if they cant agree then it defaults to nostalgia.
if its team games a weak player can go thru if hes on team with a good player who wins it.
losers play each other in losers brackets.
final should be best of 3.
we will put up a list of matches and once a set date has passed if any players for the round 1 have not turned up then the player who has turned up gets the win and moves on.

PLAYERS PLEASE NOTE
This tournament is not related to Levi's 1v1 tournament. They are two seperate events even though the latter has been scheduled at the same time as mine. This tournament is completely unsanctioned by OPU. It was formed, planned and arranged by me, personally.
Levi's tournament is an official OPU tourney and he wants it to go the way he wants it, so this tournament has been cancelled. If you still want to play in a winter tourney, you will have to join levi's which means you must go into his thread and confirm despite the fact that he has you listed.
I am not involved and will not be awarding prizes in Levi's tournament. If there are any in Levi's tournament they will be from him.
I am planning a new tournament for February in which I WILL be awarding prizes. Users will have to confirm for it. Be on the lookout for the thread, tourney banners and more announcements.
