Title: Archiving
Post by: Mez on November 04, 2006, 12:48:24 PM
Right, the forums are getting a bit cluttered from old posts

There are sub-forums that havnt been posted in, in a year, so its time to do some archiving, and clean out some of the old posts so that some funtions of this forum (i.e. searching) are faster.

Does anyone have any sections of the forum that they think should be left exactly as it is?

That way some stuff will end up in the archive subforum, and still be accessible

Currently on top of my list for cleaning, is the :
inactive projects sub forum.
General - Main
test - spam
outpost 2 - divided destiny

Constructive comments please.

Archive everything that hasn't had a reply in a month.
Wipe everything that hasn't had a reply in a year.
Unless they're stickied/etc.

I'd like to keep the Outpost 2 Colony Game Projects posts there in its forum. but the forum itself could be moved from the main project to the Other Projects forum. It fits it better anyway.   I do plan on getting it moving again, but I am waiting to make a major effort on it until I get into my C++ class at college.

Other Projects   This forum contains the other projects which are not so major. Like projects which are semi-inactive.

I think that the old news letter posts should be moved to a archive.   The old file uploading area should be cleaned out, a lot of the links don't even work for the download anymore.

I'm going to leave the inactive projects forum,  from discussion with other mods we have decided that it is a good refrence point for other people wanting to do some outpost related projects

I agree some archiving would be good idea to tidy up but don't delete anything really.

In the end it will be viewable, whilst I'm doing it it will ben hidden from view so I can manipulate it.

then after that yes, just set as read only
