Answer as honestly as you can. If you havent thought about it before, now is a good time to think about how you feel about Starcraft.
Also, no matter how you answer, how many people own Starcraft or at least have the game somewhere in a form in which it could be played?
This is just a census. Im curious.
-
Starcraft is the second best RTS ever ;) I used to play it alot, but almost never anymore.
-
Haven't voted cause my answer isn't there :P
I've played, don't really like it, but it's alright. Haven't played it in years.
-
I own it but i never played it, i accidently hit the wrong button when i voted, hey i have a bad headache, you can't blame me.
-
I used to have it but I gave it away to someone because I got sick of it (well the multiplayer at least).
Battle.net is composed almost totally of noobs who want to play these stupid maps where you have a spawnfest of units coming out of a bunker and you're supposed to 'win'. Basically a rush fest, you don't even get to enjoy the game.
Or the maps where you aren't actually limited by ore, because there are hundreds of Minerals on top of each other. Then it gets boring.
The single player isn't too bad however. If I were to play it again I'd probably only play it for the singleplayer. (Or multiplayer with people who actually wanted to make the game fun). And only certain missions at that. A lot of the missions are quite generic (escort <VIP> to a base and take over the base and then kill the AI with that base).
However, to me multiplayer is the most important aspect of a game, so I rate starcraft 0 out of 5 stars. It's a generic RTS that can get really boring after a while.
:op2: > Starcrap :D
-
lol, you need to chose melee not use map settings ;)
-
Yea, SC Battle.net is incredibly gay. I just don't play it because single is too easy against AI, and multi is just gay with all the noobs. No strategy. Just button mashers.
-
Not to mention the people called BSers that dont click allied victory and kill every one on the map after the main event is over

I remember those maps... they are alright the first few times.
Kinda reminds me of what's happening on BNet (I go through US West) with WC3... DotA (Defense of the Ancients) games galore. Now while I like DotA, it's a pretty amazing custom map, I hate it how there is almost no other games being played, custom or otherwise.
EotA (Eve of the Apocalypse) is a pretty awesome map too (better than DotA I think)
Anywayz.... :heh:
-
LOL YOU PLAY DOTA?! i heart dota.
-
war craft is war craft it sucks the sweat off a dead mans balls. thats why it has so many mods but even some of the mods are just fancy warcraft maps.
-
I thought Battle.net doesn't work for half the people who actually have WC3?
-
DotA would be a decent map if the intellegence heroes actually were worth more than crap.
-
DOTA is to WC3 as CS is to HL2.
COME ON SAT!!!!!!!!
;)
-
i used to play starcraft on lan with friends often.
-
Yeah, starcraft is a great game to play together with friends. I've wasted so many hours at school playing it with friends when I should have been to class ;)
-
He he I regulary play on asia gateway with friend to play vs korea..its thriling to do 3v3 Protoss wars on hunter map vs them 0_o...kind of hardcore...we won 1 for each 10 attempt
and manage to survive the longest possible time -_-
but yeah fastest map is so gay....good old LT is awsome
-
I did play WarCraft 2 a LOT!
But i never got around to playing Starcraft. My pc at that time wasn't fast enough. But absolutely loved Warcraft.. Zwobu !
As for starcraft now.. i do play some older games still (like OP2) but not this game. I've seen it played by someone else showing me what it was (just a minute or so, and i tried mission 1 but didn't like it all that much and it don't have it, nor did i ever try to get it).
So i voted < seen it, never played it >
-
I like it a lot. It was even better with the Brood War add on. It's AI might seem sucky now, but at the time it was pretty darn good. Quite a big step up from WC2 even.
And if all you ever did was play against the computer on Big Game, it did get predictable because certain AI triggers were never met on that map.
Anyhow, I really enjoyed WC 1, WC 2, and SC. Played hours and hours of WC2 and SC with my friends at school...
-
I play some starcraft with friends but havent played for ages.
-
have starcraft, loved starcraft, but hated the butchering it recieved at the hands of multiplayer etiquette. Battle.net is full of young, immature players that care only about inflating their own ego, i'm one of those old school gamers that likes playing a game becuase it is just that, a game
when i played with freinds, it was fun because we didnt do any mainstream tactics, we came up with our own that worked the best
like when i played zerg= lots of managed hydralisks
then when i switched over to terran= lots of manages goliaths in dropships :)
i would love to play again sometime with people who play for fun

It aint just battle.net
Its like that every where these days. Its just proof of the decline of humanity. In the USwest and USeast servers.
-

What an optimist you are.
What's wrong with a competitive spirit?
-
LOL they take it a bit to far Sirbomber. Winning is every thing to them. Not having fun just how many people they have owned compared to how many times they been owned. Its there life essence.
And you should know by now I am rarely a optimist.
-
Winning is fun? ;)
I like strange tactics, but I usually go with what I think will work the best. Nothing wrong with practicing a small set of effective attacks, as long as you can mix things up a bit from time to time. Particularly once you've lulled them into a false sense of security about what your next move will be.
-
Had it, liked it, got bored of it, don't like it anymore. simple :)
Truth be told, Freeza is pretty much right. There are quite some people that play to win as if their lives depended on it. There are some people that just like to be annoying. But there still are those few people that play games for the fun of it.
I still remember the old days when I was a bit addicted to games. I always sucked :P. But I still wanted so bad to win :|
At least now I can actually examine the situation and come up with a solution. Back then I would just do something that seemed right  I'm just glad I took up the position of playing for fun and the challenge. Wining is fun, but not when you want to win at all costs

SC UMS are really good I love the WW2 recreation maps they require a great deal of brains and there is so many different tactics you can use B)
I will however say that those noobs you spoke of annoy me saying something is rigged and unfair. But no matter what game you play you will have to deal with that. At some point or another

You talking about Normandy Invasion SE or another map, because if its Normandy Invasion you're talking about, I love you.

The last post in this thread was over 2 years ago. Stop necro'ing stuff.

It's the problem with poll topics. Whenever someone votes in the poll, the topic gets jumped on top, which is makes most people think it's still active.
