Long overdue, a working copy of 1.3.4 is now here.
Everyone needs to download this copy and install from scratch, we will no longer support or suggest the use of 1.3.3.
Changes from old 1.3.4 are:
- Runs fine on Win9x
- Natfix works
- Zone Control / The Hunters maps removed, since they have too many bugs to be released. We'll try to get them out in the next update.
Download: http://www.outpostuniverse.net/op2dl/ (http://www.outpostuniverse.net/op2dl/)
If you have any problems with this version, please let us know. However the bugs should be fixed and the game should be playable.
Apologies for the many bugs in release 1 of 1.3.4,

Great work :D
Thanks!
-
Im already looking for problems and bugs... none found yet. Good work guys
-
Smile. :)

Only took a little less than a month. >:O You should also include an automatic updater for people like me who update their missions constantly.
-
My solution to this problem was they just stop chainging the map names.
I'm still skeptical of this though and will still use 1.3.3 for now.
-
The map names are the same as in the sierra version of OP2. We aren't going to change them back, so you'll need to adjust to them.
It would be in your best interest to start using 1.3.4. (You won't be able to play with anyone else until you upgrade).
Also you won't be able to play new maps.
No need to be skeptical, it's been tested and works.

oops! Graphics bug!
-
Fixed that, it has been put into the installers. (The updated versions will be on the server in about 20 min from the time of this post).
(Blame Microsoft rc.exe resource compiler, which added title bars on all the dialogs, although some don't have them).
If you don't want to redownload the whole installer you can download the fix for this:
http://www.outpostuniverse.net/files/op2/134-window-fix.rar (http://www.outpostuniverse.net/files/op2/134-window-fix.rar)
You don't need this rar if you are just getting the installer now, since it's being updated and won't have this problem.
Extract into your OP2 folder.
However, if it doesn't bother you, you don't HAVE to do this (it won't affect multiplayer or anything). It just fixes the weird looking windows.

Guys on the plymoth cold war colony map is that beatable? This might be off topic. When you bring the truck to the flag it fills up with rare rubble not anykind of wreckage. objectives say take wrackage to spaceport but when you do nothing happens.
Is that how it is supposed to be? Then if it is then "demo" should be added to the name.
-
OP2 doesn't like it when you use wreckage...

Huh? The Cold War map doesn't contain any wreckage...
-
You're thinking of the Eden Post-Release Colony Demo.
-
Oh yeah, that acts a little bit strange. I'll have to fix that in the next update.
(it was doing lots of strange stuff before, the mission crashed before at one time as well)
-
imp pie has etd dll.

This appears to be a coding bug in Outpost2.exe when it's checking to see if a tile contains wreckage (or rubble) to be loaded into a truck. It's done in such a way that it will accidentally determine that rubble exists there instead of wreckage.
The error is dependent on the terrain. So if the wreckage is moved to a different area (to different terrain) then it should hopefully work right. I guess all the released levels from Sierra had wreckage on terrain that didn't have this issue.
Edit: I probably posted details on this somewhere else, but I can't remember now.
-
So many technical issues, dang.
-
hmm... on plymouth cold war, the game freezes whenever I get to a point of attacking. I don't know if it's on other colony games, and I don't know if it's a mark that it freezes at or just the fact that I'm attacking, because I can't check the mark after it freezes. So far, it's froze both times I tried to play.
-
Cold war is buggy. Hacker is going to fix it.
-
Ahh you are right hacker. i got the wrong name, its the post-release colony demo. hey hooman, is there a way to edit that ez somewhere? anyway after you bring the "wreckage" to the spaceport what is the next objective? who made the map anyway?
-
Sierra made the map, and yes, it is the post release colony game. (I just took the DLL from the post release demo and modified it a bit to work with modern OP2)
-
The easiest way to fix the wreckage problem is to move the wreckage on that level. Maybe a code patch could be developed, but then people will have to remember the level will only work right with a patched version of OP2.
-
etd - wen u hav 2 players it should spawn u in corners.
imp pie has wrong code in it.
-
Holy Post reserection!!
-
Baikon (Yummy! XD Had to do it), please don't do that.
-
There is a 404 error for the patch download :(
-
http://www.outpostuniverse.net/files/op2/op2dl_complete.exe (http://www.outpostuniverse.net/files/op2/op2dl_complete.exe) for now.
We'll get on fixing those links :)
-
Sweet, thanks. i read about the server move so I figured it was just not everything set back up yet!
Now time to get involved!
-
I have 1 question I just want to be sure of: are my saved games compatible with this update?
-
They should work fine, though I make no guarantees.
I think in 1.3.3 the sheets.vol might have been slightly changed (something with tubes / trade center or something). These would only affect multiplayer, so they *should* work fine.
If you want to be absolutely certain that they will work, in case they don't work with 1.3.4, hang onto an old copy of 1.3.3 for playing single player. But again, I don't think there should be any problems.
-
kk, 'cause I have a game on hard that I'm playing legitimately for once (no weapons distance trainer this time, lol) and I'm almost to the end now
-
trainers r n00b
-
lol, I get bored, and use the wepon distance to pound the heck out of eden. It's quite fun to watch, actually
