Hey guys, I got an idea that we can have a "mini-renunion" over the thanksgiving break. Maybe the 20, 26, or 27th? (during teh week would be fun too!)
Also, a christmas reunion would be cool too!
This would be quite fun... have a huge op2 tourney... and the winner gets a prize of some sort..... Idk.. anyway... Sound fun?

Nobody will show up. I for one spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with my friends and family, (no offense) not with a bunch of people online.

Pft, I get no thanksgiving weekend. I already had it back in October or September! I don't remember what month.

Official reunions tend to be planned away from holidays like this for the very reason that Sirbomber listed.
Of course we certainly won't stop anyone from playing games who wants to. Certainly if a group of you are free over the break, it'd be a pretty good time for you guys to play. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of regulars are away from the chat room at those times.

yeah, i would think keeping it away from holidays is a general good idea. and as far as a prize goes; i doubt you could give a good prize for that.

don't worry about paying me back ;) 40 ore a day is only half of the money I make daily :P

And ZZJ, is there anything wrong with a meaningless gift? It's free and easy to give ore. No real money involved, and people certainly seem to like having it. Or maybe even just a tourney for the people who are in debt, to see who can have their debt forgiven. :lol:

my debt, that will be refund in 20 days, it isn't an enormous amount of money... otherwise, anyone know where I can download the files to change the source code of the missions? I have erased them by error, and the links in my post bring in somethink called wiki, I don't khow what is it :heh:

Holidays is always a good time to have reunions. On WON there used to be an increase of players both during summer and christmas.
So, seemingly people have some extra time on their hands to play at these times.

Hmm, and the mission files, I don't know think you can download them anyplace. You'll just have to reinstall.

Highlander, I am not sure that people are on computer during the holidays, I think that there is more, in week, when the boss go out :lol:

During summer, yes, there would likely be more people around. Certainly if they have more time, they'll have more time to play OP2. But if people go to family reunions at times like Christmas they might not be at a computer. Or if they've just gotten a new game and want to try it out, then they'll play that at Christmas. Remember that WON was around back when OP2 was new. It's no longer a new game. It likely won't be the first choice of many people when Christmas rolls around this year. Instead, people will play the new games they just got for Christmas and have been dying to try out. And yeah, as much as I love OP2, there is still real life, and I think people should spend Christmas with their families over sitting in an IRC chatroom. But..., for the rest of the year, there is OP2. (thumbsup)
Siqueule, I think that stuff can be downloaded from the wiki. Treat it much the same as any other webpage. The only difference is that many users can edit and fix content on the wiki.

indeed! I don't found the links, they are in "navigation" :heh: if I arrived to coding new missions for chrismas, that would be super! I still cannot to open the dll files, but I think I haven't the good c++ compiler and I did not know use the toolkit :D
you have reason Hooman, the computer is not much use in chrismas, but there is the victims of the ski, people whom do not love snow... maybe they will register in opu ;)

Btw, you don't open DLL files with the compiler. It only generates them. You need the source code to edit them.

I have the files, but... when I launch the irc, a lot of windows are open and I don't know where I must go :'( I will studing the handbook in detail

Ok here are the steps:
Extract the zip file
Run mirc.exe
It will connect, one connected all the windows will come up. They are all the opu chat rooms.
Click #outpost2 on the left. That is the chat room where we chat mainly.
Ill do a picture because im siting in a lectue and its something to do :)

Looks to me as if we should pick an international holiday rather than an exclusively US one. Christmas would be good. Easter, maybe. Etc.

we definitly should *not* do it during christmas; considering many ppls, myself included, will not be here. Perhaps around Spring break or directly after christmas by a few weeks?

not the 25th; it's the time to the rejoicings, the fitting of the gifts, the hours of the phone with the service after sale... the 26, it's the hangover... maybe the 27?

Yeah, both sounds like a good plan.
But if we can't get it in before Christmas, I'm not too concerned.
We want to make sure all our planned updates/new maps/etc are working properly. (Don't want another 1.3.2 -> 1.3.3 problem like we had).

we have had a few reunions allready. they are held on irc. we play op2 games and more. and we allways release a update to Outpost 2 and more :D
I think were gonna do the next after xmas, so the update will be a late xmas present ;)

i'll start making the party favors and desktop backgrounds :P
maybe we should all do something like... we all have to get a photo of ourselves by the reunion. when we all get on irc, everyone send their pic to me and ill make an OPU community collage. we could hang it up somewhere on opu or elsewhere.
