what is the link?
-
outpostnovellas.cjb.net

-
thanks
-
doesn't it need a www. in front of it?
-
It does not need a www . For example, type in google.com, and you get there without the Ws.

how strange.
-
www is a subdomain. like the op part of forum.outpostuniverse.net. cool right? :D
-
www is usually a link to the public_html folder or like the ht_docs folder.
-
hmmm.
BTW, who is the 1, 2, and 3 poster?
-
1. Philipu2001
2. CK9
3. xfir
4. new-er-bie
5. Zircon

Lol.. I guess I was using Mozilla when I posted that.

Well, that's something, with school out, we are seeing more activity in this forum. I was right in my prediction that posting would pick up eventually. Ezekel and others were wrong, saying that the community is at its end.

you don't need www because the DNS records help specify that putting no subdomain points you to the IP of the server..... so does typing www....
The reason some servers won't work without the www is because they don't have the @ entry in their DNS record (Which, in many cases, they cannot edit because 'newbies' to web administration mess with the records and screw it up)

This forum is never gonna die. We won't let it.... this community has been around about 4 years and we'll make it longer....

Well, we as a forum are capable of going on in the long term. No matter what people say, we can make this forum live.

-
Even if it is reduced to admins and Mods? What amI saying? of corse, we make about half the community <_<
-
Within a month or two, I will introduce someone (my friend, Phil knows, "Rotary Dial" is his OP2 name) who will be a regular member/poster on here.
That is once he gets IE logging software.
-
I had an interesting day. I was volunteered without knowing it. Me very tired now. However, I did tell four people about Outpost 2. I had very short time, so I told them to search for philipu2001.

I think they're going to find files, that's all. Not the forum.
-
I didnt place in the top poster thing? im really slipping up
-
Betaray, that was a long long long long long time ago.
-
What's going on?
(These words added to comply with the Code of Phil to make the post a satisfactory length.)
-
Betaray wonder why he wasn't on the top 5 poster list posted by xfir. The list was posted on June 3, before Betaray could have taken a place on the list.
-
Top 5:
1. AdminPatriot1 with 1447
2. CK9 with 1409
3. Betaray with 590
4. xfir with 471
5. new-er-bie with 365
-
That isn't right, a newbie in 5th place. Either there is something wrong with the forum, or the newbie is not a newbie.
-
holy crap, you guys are leading me by almost 1000 posts, how did you do that?
-
I was here, and I certainly participated.
-
man, you guys are going to lead me even more, with me being gone for another week
-
i'm in 18th place... and i only have 29 posts
its cos of the fact that xfir and the older members (excluding me) of this forum were using this forum before teh majority of ppl came here regularly...
-
OP2Patriot 1781
CK9 1776
Betaray 1149
xfir 626
new-er-bie 378
Now new-er-bie has not posted for a long time. There is also posts per day. CK9 has more than me, because I registered six days before he did.
-
hmm, i wonder where new-er-bie is ?
And that goes for zhen-lin too...
-
Well there is plans for a mass-email to be sent to all members that have joined this forum and those who are not here, to proclaim the server going public. That should bring back a lot of posters. There are other ways to get back posters too. I once posted at a OP2 Forum at some gamer site in May. Since then, there have been 37 views. That is potentially 37 people (including me) who saw the post saying that Outpost 2 is not dead, but alive at this forum. It would not be too hard to bring some people back, or to bring new ones here.

I think I saw that post.
As for mass email, do you mean thru like the NHCS?
-
First we send a mass e-mail through the Admin CP. Then we send one to those who did not register at this forum, like the people at the NHCS.
-
Philip, a suggestion about your website. How about a new navigation system that everyone can use?
I know that your "tree" would be easy in PHP, but I doubt your site can support PHP scripting.
-
Well, due to the fact I have 50 files on my account for the novella site, I have been reluctant to update it. (Prepares for xfir's offer to have novella site on his server)
-
geeze, how much can your servcer hold x?
-
My hosting plan can hold up to 500MB (including email and DBs).
You are welcome to host it here. PM me more for details. If you'd like, we can work out a way to get a PHP naviagtion system up.
-
cool, 500 mb if that gets used up as fast as my hd, you must have to deleate a bunch lol
-
I think at the moment, we are using 105 MB of storage. Of that, op2hacker is using the most, followed by the forum, then my folder.
-
Well, I won't be updating the site for at least a couple of weeks.
-
hacker, what does he have on the site that takes up so much memory?
-
He has a civil war game on xfir's server.
-
civil war game?
like where you control the units of the union, or the confederate armys?
-
Yes... http://civilwar.xfir.net (http://civilwar.xfir.net)
-
ic, thats cool
-
Any time you'd like to look into joining the xfir Network, just contact me.
I guess I could say that if you know HTML, and have something at least remotely related to Outpost, I can host you.. there are multiple ways to contact me.
-
O_O Wow, I'm going to read them later
-
Since I have been starting to "get a life," (to put it in the worst terms possible) I have been unable to do much writing lately.
-
there's a novella site?????
-
philipu2001's site - outpostnovellas.cjb.net
-
Ok
-
Thank you, Leviathan.
-
Philip, get a life? Is that even possible? :heh:
anyway, I congradulate you philip, for accomplishing what some of us cannot.
