I would suggest thet we delete some members!
like there are about 50 members that haven't posted even once. this is macking the member amount not acurate. What do you think?
-
I think xfir talked about wanting to delete members whose email bounced when we mass mailed the OP2 Reunion letter, because they aren't keeping it up to date.
As far as the other people with only 1 post, I don't know.
-
Keep them if they have one post, as they might check back every few months.
-
Yea but a lota them got 0 posts!
so are you up for it?
-
I say leave them until we check when their last log-in date was
-
Members that not have been logged in for 1 yers or shorter should be removed.
-
i argree some members should be removed.
the reason for me making the gamers page is so that we had a acurate list of active and inactive members.
-
I agree!
I think we shuld make a thing that if you haven't posted in the past 3 monthes.......BAN!
what do you think?
-
But if u not are a newbie longer (not me eg) then you shold make a exception that you could make a rule if you are on a vacation that says that you don't are beeing baned under the period you fil in.
And if you read post but dont post it shold take like 1 yers to get baned.
-
I'd think about 6 months (half a year) would be a good amount...
Post Reserection...
Oh well.

Taken care of Xfir

Please do not double post.
In any case, I will post a list (eventually) of the accounts that the emails bounced from. They will have 2 weeks to update it or it will be deleted regardless of post count.
-
what about a thing like hotmail has like it (in forum terms) it reduces post count a little then sends them an activation mail. It also moves them to an inactive list. (probably alot of programming...) Then, instead of them having to register, they just have to reply to the activation mail.
There should be like a 3 month delay or something.
That's my opinion.

I think this deleting thing is a good idea, i just have seen the members list. Joined a half year ago posts 0 shouts 1... now thats what i call inactive member...

Well if you know php you could create a mod. There are about 450 mods available for forum's that use Invision Boards...and I'm sure that some of the Mod creators would know how to do this. Shoot, Xfir would probably be able to do this himself. But wouldn't it just be easier to post all inactive names and if they don't reply within a certain time then delete them?
-
I could write something like that (I know a lot of PHP) but that would become very annoying to users and cause stress on the mail server.
(I send mass mails for stuff like the OP2 reunion, xfir tells me how many mails bounce..... similar stuff would happen everytime the activation thing happened)
And activation is already in place. When someone registers, they have to activate their account by clicking the link in the email. (They are placed in a special "Validating" usergroup during this process that has almost no privileges) They also have to do this when they change their email address.
-
ok, tell me if i translate it wrong: everyone has to activate every email address he uses on the forums... but i think we should send a warning message after ummm... 3 months passivity...
-
I know enough php to be able to make adjustments to my forum's and fix anything that may go wrong with them. As far as modding them, I can't.
Why don't we just stick to posting all inactive member's somewhere on the forum's and have them e-mail/PM Xfir if they are indeed here.

Yes, everytime you change your mail address on the forums it makes you reactivate your account.
Zeus: I know PHP in and out... I could write something like that, however, it would be a stress on both the users (having to verify every 3 months) and the system (the mail server has to send out 200 some emails, and at least 3 out of every 4 mails would get returned to sender because people don't use valid mail addresses).
The system is under a lot of stress already.

No-post milestone! we have 104 members without a post and another 3x with only one... lol
a bit too much, dont ya think? almost 140 inactive members
-
But Xfir's list only has so few.
-
That list are those who have had email bounce.. I may redo it with a Forced email (meaning they get it no matter what) and see if it bounces.
Overall, I really do not see the problem with having users that do not post.
-
Your right. They may just wanna read and not post.
-
Oh, well it is true.... IF they read... But what if registered but didnt even read a single message?

Ya! i agree with you! i mean there are at least 50 members that don't post lol!

No post-no problem...
No shout-no problem...
but...
No read-IS A PROBLEM
