Dunno if its possible or not, but a gate that would open and close (similiar to one in C&C: Tiberium Sun) that would prevent entry and allow exit for your vehicles.
Yes, it would require art for it... or use current concrete walls and have them fade into the ground, then pop back up when the gate closes.
-
I never had the feeling that gates were missing. - They are not needed. You can build guardposts next to entrances. Everything that gets past guardposts won't be stopped by gates.
-
not to mention you can just blow the gate up or the walls around it
-
Design flaw.
But while the enemy is attacking the walls, your GPs will be able to get a couple free hits in as they won't be focusing on the GPs.
-
Gates could potentially have a benefit if they are only visible to the player that placed them. It could create certain *secret* attack routs in a giant wall fortification. Thou, the main thing I thought about is having a special Wall that also acts as a tube, so that way you don't get a hole in your fortification.
-
I'm trying to remember the ending of that discussion...
-
wiith gates. they become your down fall when they are camped and games drag on forever. Also you want to say its makes a bottle neck for enemies the same is said for you coming out of the gates. but then i just blow up your gates while my emp keep you gps down so ill just waltz in and trounce you.
-
the bottleneck argument is invalid. You can build bottlenecks with walls now. Whether they are useful for you or your opponent depends on both players' strategies.
The combined wall-tube idea sounds much more interesting, btw.
-
the fact you can make the bottle neck with walls makes not having gate valid.
-
Hmm, well, a gate would be quite silly being that the walls around it are so weak. Now if the walls were stronger then, a gate would be more useful.
-
if they were stronger wouldent the cost have to go up too? could we do this? just for the sake of having good defense?
-
if you have a gate that is weaker then the walls you might as well just leave a hole in wall you can drive out.
-
I guess I'm just used to games where the walls gave a great defense and the gate did as well.
