Title: Editting The Multitek.txt Sheet Problem
Post by: lordpalandus on June 20, 2010, 02:14:19 AM
I haven't had this problem before, but it pops up whenever I change anything in the Multitek.txt file (bonuses, costs, scientists put on tech etc..) I get this error:

"Error reading Tech Entry at Line 12" "Could not initialize game" This is the error I get when I try playing any colony games. I reinstalled the game from the one off the site, and I still get the error...

Any suggestions on how to work around this? Also, I am running Win 7 with most recent SP.

Depends on what you change. The game interprets tech files in a certain way, looking for certain tags. Be thankful that the game tells you on which line you messed up, so you know exactly what you need to fix.

Doesn't matter what I change or where, I get the same error. If I change say the research time of cybernetic teleoperation by 1 pt, or changing the research time of skydock by 1 pt, you get the same error. Also, with the tab deliminated files in Excel, line 12 is a blank space.

There's your problem.

You must edit the sheets in .txt form. Saving via Excel messes the spacing up.
