Nice. Is Mikelat a forum member?
-
I was thinking of doing something like that, maybe during the summer. Sadly, I don't have much equipment to do it.
Well, it's nice to know that he likes OP2, whether he's a member around here or not.
I'm curious to see him pass plym 10.
-
lol. +popularity for op2
-
ROFL!!! HE BUCKLED OR SOMETHING AND TOOK DOWN ALL OF HIS STUFF!!!
-
He shouldn't have put it on youtube. Since Google bought it out, it's gone to s***. All my vids on there were forced off just because I used music I didn't create myself >.<
-
What a shame. He thinks his LPs weren't good
-
I watched his video, the Yoshi picture was very saddening. I actually liked his video, disappointing to see him go. I feel an evil presence from the copyright office was making him read a script, as they held his family hostage >:(
-
I guess I'll be the stick in the mud and say that I didn't think those videos were that great. He didn't really seem to completely understand how the game works, not really the greatest way to show people how to play the game IMHO.
-
Maybe we should win the mega millions lotto, buy all the rights to the Outpost series, get OP3 re-started, and make a bunch of great LP's to get people interested :P
-
sounds good to me... although i thing we need a million to find the golden ticket :P
-
naw, We'll just hack the system and make our numbers the winning numbers :P
-
but who to do it... HOOMAN!!!!!!
-
Yes i realize this topic is old, but has anyone tried to contact the guy about the op2 video? mabie we could get the thing and use it for the general benefit of the community. I noticed that when subbed and I started the xat chat for op2, we instantly got more people interested in the game. mabie if we can get this video it can do the same. Just saying.
If no one has tried, im happy to step up.
don't you DARE quote this to tell me i shouldn't necro :P (JK)
-
And you won't just make a new one yourself... why?
-
lack of knowledge. besides, if anyone should do it it should be someone around your level of play. I seriously doubt i could muster anything quite as well done as someone who eater makes 'let's play' videos consistently or an experienced player. I mean, when was the last time you lost? and the last time i made ANY video?
-
I've been considering doing a "let's play" vidoe for OP2, but am unfamiliar with the expected format of such a thing.
-
my opinion: do one and post it, THEN redo it based upon the critic you get
-
I would have done this a while ago, except for two things.
1: I'm not a very good player...
2: I don't have a good software (FRAPS can only do 30 seconds of vid).
-
I had* camtasia...might still have it somewhere...If I did a Let's Play, it would be on an easier setting because most video capturing software lags the hell out of a computer. Not to mention how much longer it would take to finish the video editing out all the mistakes that happened because I was talking about what I was doing and didn't see something.
-
You don't have to play the game without making mistakes. I have seen Lets Plays from people who didn't know the game at all (or didn't know it much). They can still be fun and for new people it might even be easier to learn from someone who is on the same skill level.
On the other hand I (as an advanced player) would be more interested in a Lets Play of the campaign on hard. But you can't please everyone.
-
Well, let's look at the target audience. Do we want to have it to show people who are experienced with the game, or to let new people know about it?
-
I say some stuff with a Lets Play:
* Make sure we don't show everything, cause then they have stuff to see (so I think no campaign)
* Don't show to much at once, cause it's easy to lose a viewed with "food, population, power, common ore, rare metal, chassis then turret"...
* Try to show both sides in a game, like the Eden Star ship colony mission
* Don't mention any flaws with the game
* Maybe show a fan based custom map, like survivor, which might be a really good one since it shows almost all basic elements of the game
* Don't use hotkeys, since the viewer can't see the keyboard
-
Uhh, isn't the whole point of this kind of thing to show off the single-player portion of the game? If you want to show off both sides, then have one person play the Eden campaign and another play the Plymouth campaign in separate videos.
-
Okay, so who wants to do one for eden :P
If I do end up doing it, I'll choose 2 or 3 campeign missions. That way I can show some colony management and a combat control.
-
A "Let's Play" is a full play-through, not just a section. Since the story is split in two, it's sort of acceptable to not to both sides... at the same time.
I was going to attempt to do one of Eden, Hard, with commentary added during editing, because the game likes putting the pressure on you, so I have to focus on the game, not talk, but I don't have the proper tools, nor the voicing skills for it.
-
meh...
I still have Camtasia, so if I get some time this week I'll get started on one for plym. I might go up to normal, but I personally think that you should start them off easy.
-
If you have skype and need a voice over or can give me the files to voice over, I'll be able to do it.
