i heard that the people who took over for lev on the site and such like that actually suck at the game :/ kinda curious i am. is it true?
-
Don't know who "took" over..
But if your referring to the Mods in IRC, they don't play too often..
-
Im not on alot, nor do I reply to many posts on the forums, although I do read them (except the OP3~ ideas forum).
P.S. Not someone who did the takeover, but supported it/recognised that it was needed.
I play OP2, I'm okay at it, no where near the best, but im good enough to play against providing its not 1 on 1.
Other Mods/Admins: Nope they don't play very often, are busy people, have real life and all of its "fruits" to manage, girls and many other projects to work on.

On the other hand, is Lev any good at anything other than Pie Chart or the maps he made...?

If by that you mean the people who actually own the server and thereby all of the content on the forums and IRC, and always have regardless of Levi having a useless rank, the answer is mostly no: they just don't have time to waste on games. However, last time I checked being able to play a game had absolutely nothing to do with being a competent administrator.
PS: Levi never solely controlled OPU anyway, the other admins had always been here in one form or another.

I guess it depends on how you define "sucks."
If sucks means, we don't like to play rush games that last <10min then yes, I suppose it is true. At least for me.
If it means, we just aren't very good at the game the answer might depend on a variety of factors. Yes, I'm probably not the greatest at the mash-the-buttons types of quick games, and certainly don't claim to be the best OP2 player ever (I know I am far from that) but I can hold my own in various situations. I'm sure this is true for other people as well.
I think the most important factor is not whether one is that skilled with the game but whether the game means anything to them / whether they enjoy it. I help run this place because I still find the game enjoyable. If I didn't, I wouldn't show up anymore.
Finally, to administrate a site you do need certain skills. I have many years' experience in setting up all of the different parts you need to make a website / webserver operate. (Unix administration, Apache administration, PHP / database programming, etc) as do many of the others. Without someone possessing these skills it would make the site very hard to run.

Took over how?
Why would it matter if some one sucked at the game if they took over the site? What if they are better at running a site then playing a game it seems like a good trade off.
If this is about Levi being a old player and the new players like myself being made ops and mods. Then I have to ask why is it necessary to only have old people in the "higher ranks".
I am not that great at the game and i rarely play. But when i do i enjoy it. And that is all that is important about play a game to me is that i enjoy it.

I am still one of the staff here at OPU but not very active currently. Its a joint effort for all the staff to be in charge.
I am the only serious player who is also a admin.
Playing often is not a requirment to be a admin.
Welcome back Sorcer.

Running a website like this takes a lot of time. You can't expect the admins or monitors to run and maintain a site like this and be great at Outpost at the same time. I am sure they have a life beyond OPU and the game.

life beyond OPU and the game

Hey I figured you had other things going on in your life. I guess not. ;) :P
