Being cut of from internet at my apartment, I have been toying a bit around with OP2 single player, but I think I've met my match in this mission..
I get to the point of having some 180 colonists, enough ore to produce constantly, and 4 x vec fac at my outposts (rare and common down south). Problem is, as marks go above 1200 some attacks is launches which is just too big to contain.. I can beat off 2 of 3 of the attacks, but I usually don't have enough vecs to cover up for the last attack position. Eden tigers/weaponary is just too strong :(
I've tried rushing for space, but colonist growth and research takes to much time. Effectively you need weapons, and wasting to much time on these, you quickly doom yourself in any case since the attack waves becomes rather massive..
Has anyone ever completed this on hard without cheating ?
If you have, how did you do it ?
It's not that I mind a challenge, but I'm becoming to doubt that this scenario can be completed on hard..
:op2: Forever (thumbsup)

I've been struggling with that for the past few weeks as well. So far my best attempt is one where I have 2 high bar common ore mines (pure luck keeps them out of the path of most attacks), with 2 smelters each, and 5-6 vech factories. I have thus far held my own until both volcanos erupt, but now I'm running into the problem that the worst attacks always come in through the side of the map where all the rare ore mines are. I could probably survive indefinitely if there was at least one 3-bar rare mine in my territory, but as it is I don't know what I'm going to do when my current supply runs out (attack waves come too quickly to rebuild mining operations).
A few things that have helped me so far:
Eden's progress is linked to your own. I concentrated on getting the maximum amount of microwave lynx, with all the upgrades I could, and then avoided researching panthers until I had 5 vehicle factories and a good deal of common and rare ore.
The enemy will get panthers and tigers eventually no matter what you do, but they will also get them automatically the instant that you research them yourself.
Play at speed 1, and save often.
Have 2-3 garages on each front to repair units as soon as possible, otherwise you wont have time to get them all repaired between waves.
I also disassembled all the structures in the west side of my colony and replaced them with vehicle factories and a set of garages. Once both volcanoes erupt, the lava creates an excellent bottleneck in which to confront Eden. Having the factories and garages nearby lets me get units in and out of the fray with a minimum of lost time.

Consistently use StarFlares and/or SuperNovas. (thumbsup)
Or you can delay weapon research a bit as the AI weaponry is mainly based on researches you completed.
:op2: Boom!

Its well known that the AI attack waves are created larger based on the size of your own army, + all existing guardposts. So simple solution. SD all tanks, have an assload of vec facs, and just make what you need, then after the attack, SD them. You won't face very large Eden attacks anymore.

Is this the colony map? Where your plymouth?
Where do you settle your colony at?

This is the first Plymouth Spaceship mission.
After about 10 attempts I finally managed this mission. I'm at work right now, so I can't post a long explanation, but I'll get back to you on this one.
It is possible to complete mission once you can predict and deal with the a.i's entry points.

Please take the time to write up a guide and I'll sticky it later

Well, I wanted to do just that CK9, but problem is that I don't have internet at home. And I lack the time to write this up while I'm at work. (I tried to get it done from a internet cafe, but it took time and I lacked coordinates from the map, which made the thing rather sloppy looking so I didn't post what I had written up by the time I had to leave)
If I'm lucky though, I can perhaps get some of the other colony games done in hard aswell (or rather do them again, since I completed them all a few years back), and have it ready to post when I can bring my laptop somewhere with a wireless internet ;)
I haven't forgotten about this, just have some obstacles in my way presently.
I'm terrible sorry for the delay!
