It would seem that laser tiger is stronger then the microwave tiger if you have them shoot themselves laser does 50 damage a shot where micro tiger does 40 a shot just something interesting

if u wanna find the damage values check the weapons.txt file in the sheets.

Laser got a higher penetration damage than the micro. Not sure if this is the explanation though..

yes, because tigers have heavy armor it absorbs a large portion of the cuncussion damage of microwave, but because laser does all penetration damage it is stronger
with less armored targets such as lynx the situation is reversed however

If I remember right, some briefing tell that the laser has less penetration power.

laser 0 cuncussion 35 penetration
microwave 20 cuncussion 20 penetration
upgraded
laser 45 penetration
microwave 30 in both cuncussion and penetration
so for lightly armored targets microwave does more damage, but heavy armor absorbs much of the cuncussion damage (I would still like to know how op2 calculates damage)
also I confirmed this fact in a game with arklon, tiger laser won, lynx microwave won

You would think that with the way they work, Microwave would hava a sort of ESG effect - the microwaves would induce an electric current in the metal, frying the electrical systems inside (same reason why you don't put metal in a microwave, or if you do, you see it arcing)
Anyone see the movie "The Core", and how the sun's microwaves melt the Golden Gate Bridge.... pretty cool, don't know if that would really happen....

Yeah, I was going to point out the difference between concussion and penetration damage too. I've noticed that little difference for a while. I never did any testing with tigers though. I would like to know how OP2 calculates damage too....
The Core was a pretty cool movie to watch, but I doubt it had very much to do with reality. It was a movie after all, and to make it interesting they had to make it a little sensational.

If anybody wants to try it out go to eden/plymonth unit ref and have the tigers target themselves may have to go slow mo but you'll see the damage is diffrent

i would also like to point out that laser lynx is stronger then microwave i looked and it was still more damage however since plymonth gets higher rate of fire right after you get microwave this simply makes up for laser being stronger if your pounding your target at double the speed then being stronger doesn't much matter and since microwave not only gets faster fire they also get attack upgrade as well. so microwave is the better weapon but not the stronger one

The laser also gets the higher firing rate also, you just have to wait until after you get the Artificial Lightning research. Heat Dissipation Systems is the research topic for both. Plymouth gets it right after the Microwave, and Eden gets it after Thor's Hammer. So Eden just has to wait a bit longer, that's all.

Well I toss this out there even tho it doesnt make a difference :P.
In reality a Laser or a Maser (Microwave type of laser). Would just blast right though the armor of any thing. It would be more powerful then a thors hammer.

Lasers are a interesting weapon they don't lose strength as they travel. So it's as strong as it was when it was fired. i've seen lasers cut through steel with ease. It just keeps burning untill it punchs through

True eden does get rate of fire upgrade but by then nobody is going to use laser or microwave they are going to be using RPG ESG EMP Thors acid emp combos
