Title: Where Can I Download The Music For Op2?
Post by: Haunt on July 08, 2006, 08:54:02 PM
So I downloaded OP2 and I am loving it (I used to play it when it first came out but lost the CD since then), and I'd really like to listen to the music and even the old videos that came with it. The links at http://www.opu.org.uk/dlmisc.php are broken. If someone could maybe fix them or give me a diffrent link, that would be great! Thanks!

EDIT (leeor_net): updated link to indicate that it is no longer available.

music as mp3:
op2_soundtrack_mp3.zip (http://www.outpost2.net/files/op2_soundtrack_mp3.zip)

music as clm (so game its self can read it):
op2_soundtrack_clm.zip (http://www.outpost2.net/files/op2_soundtrack_clm.zip)

in game vids:
op2_vids.zip (https://www.outpost2.com/files/op2/op2_vids.zip)

enjoy :)

I have a question about getting the vids to work.  Is there anything extra I need to download or set up to get them to work.  I downloaded the vids (and music) and extracted to the outpost 2 folder.  The music works fine.  But whenever a video tries to play I get the error "Video not available, cannot find 'vids:IV41' decompressor."  I loved this game when it first came out and am so glad I found your site to get back into it, but it doesn't seem complete without the videos.  Thanks in advance!

I think that means you need the indeo codecs to run the movies. There's an installer on the op2 cd.

Check the game preferences -- perhaps Sound effects were turned off.

Check other obvious things such as "does any sound come out of my speakers, even in different programs?"

OP2 uses DirectSound. If many normal applications play sound okay but OP2 and other games (as well as some applications, eg. multimedia apps like MP3 / video players) are having problems, something might be to do with your Directsound configuration. Try reinstalling DirectX if that's the case.

If it still doesn't work, there's the very rare chance that your soundcard drivers don't support DirectSound (although it'd have to be a very old card). Make sure the correct drivers are installed for your card.
