have you have beaten Outpost2 on hard on all the campaings and colony games
-
hmm... no :P
-
i did with ply. it is really hard and you must put speed at 2-3 to have time to manage everything.
-
nope
-
The campaigns are unworthy. No true challenge. Only did it on Easy for the story and for boredom. But yeah, OP2 Hard is only hard because they give you a severe disadvantage and the AI a huge advantage.
-
ive allways preferded multiplayer over singleplayer. i did the colony games and most of plymouth campaign.
-
you need to set game speed to 1 and save often
-
Yeah. good strat :P !
That does work well. i remember doing it on other games.
Id like to see a video of someone going thru the campaigns on hard as quick as they could :)
how long u think it would take? under a hour?
-
yes, but I cheated :P
-
nope, of course have not play whole camphain without cheating mwhahahaha.
-
no, only games I've beaten on hard are Eden Starship I and Eden Population I. I tryed the plymouth Colony games on hard either, without success. I Only ever played the Campaign on easy.
-
dan's dog, dan's car, and dan's bike are my tools :P
-
why play single player when you can play real people.
-
I haven't done the campaigns on hard yet, and neither Plymouth Spaceship.
Like someone said, put game speed low and practice the campaign scenarios a few times, and they are quite easy.
Plymotuh starship is still a mystery to me, how your supposed to beat without cheating.
Cheating is just takes the fun out of it. And you can't say you've beaten the game.
-
nope
what... wait you mean you haven't?
i'm surprised you haven't done it yet lev
-
Amazingly I have beaten all campaigns and colony missions on hard, basically it requires a lot of patience and saving. For the colony missions to survive the opposing factions attacks all you have to do is build up massive ammounts of material and base before progressing into the next tech phase. Also to ensure you get rare metals as fast as you can you can save, research it, find the nodes, then load the game and just build a normal base near that node, and build up everything. Four common smelters on a mine, 2-3 mines, 6-8 vehicle factories, 50 scientists + 2 adv labs + 2 standard labs. You have to constantly build forces. It's all very taxing and difficult for the colony games, but you can do it. The campaigns on the other hand are just a f***ing b**** to do, but persistance pays off. Play the missions over and over and eventually you beat them.... taxing but rewarding.
-
nope
what... wait you mean you haven't?

He hasn't even done it on easy. Huge waste of time either way, easy or hard.
-
I think i tryed it on easy a few years ago. may of been med, but prolly easy. anyway, didnt finish :P got to 8 or somthin. didnt try eden at all.
-
I think I got to mission 7 or 8 on hard. I did not mean to though, It was my first time playing and I had decided the best way to improve my skill was to start playing on hard from the very beginning
And then on easy I got to mission 10 I think but I cheated then and just read the story posted here :P
-
I know I've beaten both on Easy, maybe one or both of the campaigns on Medium. It's been years since that happened, though! In any case they're way too tedious. I'd say I like the colony games the best, but they too get boring after a few times through.
And as I mentioned to Lev a few weeks back on IRC, I now primarily use a Mac so I have to dig out the old PC laptop if I want to play OP2.
-
Come on guys, we all sound pathetic. I want more yesses!
-
well I say yes to wanting to beat it, but no to never have. :P
-
it's impossible to beat op2 in hard!! <_<
already in easy, it is necessary to cling...
I have finished the 9th mission of the plymouth campaign, the microbe come very quickly, if you must moreover build the foundry, the structure factory, the command center, under ennemy fire
-
Im so sad that so many people arent as interested in the campaign and solo missions as I am.
-
Well I am playing campaign sometimes and I do enjoy it :). Don't be sad vexhare ;)
-
I just cannot get enough of campaigns and colony missions, i would die for more colony missions.
-
if I knew put buildings, mines, etc etc on a map...
I had tried, without success <_<
-
I find singleplayer VERY interesting. Not on hard though.
-
it's the problem: in easy, it's so much easy that it's boring
and in normal, it's very very hard, I don't resist more that 1300 days
-
Then you must do something real wrong because the computer is very very bad. So, I must assume that you kill yourself by starvation lack of moral or whatever.
-
by lack of moral undoubtedly...
maybe the computer is very bad, but he send a lot of ennemy waves by all sides, and even if I am more intelligent than the computer, he has nevertheless the tigers and the panthers before me <_<
the last time, he has destroy my foundry and my warehouse, whereas I was the strongest :'(
-
But if you notice the computer do not wait for his tiger. He is basicly sending 3 waves. The fast linx the strong panther and the mighty tiger. If you are plymouth kill the lynx capture the panter if you can and capture the tiger. This way, you will not have to buy aditional vehicle and repair your vehicle in the garage man it is wayyyyy underrated but so usefull
-
Panthers suck... too slow to outmatch a few lynx, and too weak to stand a chance against a tiger.
-
yes lordy_dragon, but to capture the panthers, you must have the spiders, the EMP, and to have the emp, you must have a rare ore smelter, etc etc...
in this time, the computer has already skin my colony  <_<
-
hum emp do net require rare gold. And fully upgraded panter stats are as follow:
speed: slow
hp: 700
armor: heavy
advantage: durable and faster than the tiger.
compare to a tiger:
speed: very slow
hp:800
armor: heavy
advantage: dual cannon
In single player game I rather use panter. Less expensive, durable, and are almost equal in Hp than the tiger...
-
in my memory, the emp-lynx requiere 200 ore
maybe the campaign aren't as the colony games, we can see that with the laboratory, and in the colony game, you must use rare ore to create emp-lynx... I will get informations :op2:
-
nop no rare ore require for emp lynx...
-
If I'm not mistaken about a year or two ago I beat Eden campaign on Hard. Of course the speed is on 10, if its any less I get confused because things are moving slower then my brain and mouse.
Either way its not really that hard. Most of the time it is basically just failing until you memorize the AI patterns and know exactly how to react.
-
I haven't beaten outpost 2 at all. Well I beat Eden level 3 on easy, but I really had to try.
-
we should start speed games like with original doom. whoever can finish a map or entire campaign gets.... i dunno, props or kudos or cash n' prizes or somethin.
-
Wow this is preaty sad even i have beat the game on hard :) both groups all levals no cheats let me tell u it took along time to do .
-
dan's dog, dan's car, and dan's bike are my tools :P
dan't bike? I don't remember that one...
-
I love the campaign...
I love playing on Hard just so I can destory my Ego.
:P
-
I have tried over and over again and its just too hard for me :<
-
as I allready said lower the speed is key to success
-
Campaigns on normal or easy.
Eden starship, and I believe plymouth starship on hard(might have been normal on this one)
I prefer colony games with the ai on the map so I can wipe them out.(Who the heck likes an invincible ever sending enemy?)
Why play off-line? I don't know about others, but for revenge? Just to thoroughly stomp the ai once and not play offline again for months. That, or, refine tactics how to play faster to sooner counter those rushers.
-
Absolutley not - even with cheats I couldnt beat it :P
-
yes, with cheats I have beaten eden starship in hard B)
without dan's help, it's impossible (http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/9613/372uk.gif) (http://imageshack.us)

Struggling through the Plmouth mission (raid Eden's base for scientists + starship components atm). It is difficult, they have many more units than I do and if I spend too much time capturing more from the mine in the northern part of the map they send everything after me :P
Hard difficulty, of course. Already beat all the colony games.
Is there a way to record the screen at a reasonable frame rate without taking much space, by the way? The only program I have is fraps and that quickly uses up disk space.
-
Ah, Hacker is working on a program that will be built into op2 when finished. It basicaly records the game into a format that op2 can play back in game. The topic for it is around here somewhere...

I got a suggestion: move the main body of your force somewhere with few (preferably no) disasters and surround the cargos and evacs with the attack vehicles while going on capture runs.
As to fraps, yeah, it sucks. From what I've seen so far, Hypercam works well.
-
I went through the Eden campaign on hard without much trouble while struggling with the Plymouth mission, it's definitely the easier campaign. I finally managed to finish the plymouth raid mission and the mission following, but on the final mission I have a serious problem :(
You see, everybody starves to death. But it's worse than that ... they starve to death by Mark 14. I am only able to begin building the second agridome (the other being in construction still) before it all goes to hell. It's a total of about 1min of gameplay on speed 10 before I get the failed message  I don't think it's possible for me to win this one, there seem to be too many people. Maybe I'll have to go to the previous mission and do some population control <_<
-
Play it on speed 1, or 3. Things can get done faster.
-

No good. The problem isn't that I can't get things going fast enough, but rather that it's simply impossible to feed 350 people with the starting number of agridomes/storage for more than a minute  I tried it on speed 1 anyway and the starvation started at mark 13 and I had lost all my scientists at mark 14.
-
Finally managed to finish it. Excellent :D

Why do you have 350 people?! What part of "Idle the Nursery and University to limit our population growth" didn't you understand?!
-
This is why I think it would be interesting to be able to use op2hacker's game recording system ... I mean, why read a bunch of text explaining how to beat a mission when you could simply show them? B)
-
lol sirbomber, when I finished eden campaign, I have learn that it's more easy, to have 200 people, idle some agridomes, than waiting children's birthes, especially with moral disastrous ;)
