Post by: Leviathan on January 14, 2006, 07:14:42 PM
Yea well,.. erm that hdd i thoguht i lost all the data (300gb drive) on cuz of gay xp it caught on fire so now i rly have lost all the data :o
(http://www.outpostuniverse.net/leviathan/images/burnthdd.png)

Well realy it was just a surface fire on one of the chips so if i can get a replacemnet board for the top of it hopefully i can get to the data.

I had my new comp on and had a light thing in my hand and the comp was on and by mistake it went into the big fan then came rite out and hit the HDD and it caught on fire! i was like WTF!!! i had my headphones on and i didnt think to turn the power off for a few seconds! omfg etc

i sure never thought that could or would happen! so i say its not my fault for trying to position a light into the comp while the comp was on (i pluged it in first)

GAY GAY GAY!

lolz etc

So that is already the second hdd that you destroyed?
Seriously, if you have some important data on your harddrive you should be more careful.

TAPE BACKUPS lol

Tape backups are great but seeing how Levi treats his HDD's they'd be destroyed faster than the HDD's.

Also, as far as getting a new board, you're better off going to the manufacturer and getting them to pull the data from the drive or having them do the board replacement.

or you can get a identical drive and swap the board

yea, was 175GB of mp3.

i mite be able to get the data back if i can replce the board on the top of the drive.

That's a real waste. If I got an identicle HDD I would take its board off.

well thats remind me of two story. the first one is quite simple my ram on my 2nd computer is completly burned up.

the second: me and two friend intend in the school cpu laboratory to do some 3d but after like 3 hour of intense 3d the computer begin to smell bad. when we were done (1 hour later) we leave and we never saw that computer again. i dont know what burnt and fried in.

oh and btw for those who want to crash a network it is really easy. Fear ze network bomb. actually it is quite simple create a folder and put as many 1k file as possible. when you are at 1000 or so send it to the network... and watch :)

it's very easy to create enormous files, you go on microsoft word, you tip "=rand(100,100)" and you make copy-pastes  ;)
