I got curious after spirit1flyer made a post about his sister not being able to watch newer episodes of star trek because his parents dont like the idea of having (another) trekkie in the family. I grew up with this problem also, but having a trekkie for a dad helped.
Who around you has become a star trek fan to the dismay of those close to them? How many of us have had our minds twisted by captains with unusually high moral codes? Have you ever ducked to dodge a flaming paper mache starship while watching a space battle?
If so, pull up a cushion and let us know :P

live long and prosper... my dad made that my fisrt words

My dad and I are the most trekkie-like people in the family. a close follow up is my mom. My sister hates sci-fi

my uncle taught me the Vulcan Way of life .. well sorta: he always watched startrek (TOS) in the 70's .. and i watched it too then.. so i grew up with it.
My daughter could recognise the voyager-tune from the age of 3, u'd ask her what music is this.. and she'd tell ya the correct answer :)

If I have a kid, I'm gonna make sure their first words are "Hello World". :P But that's for another topic.

That's one reason why I liked Deep Space 9. Did you watch the episode where Cisco is involved in a plot to trick the Romulans into the war on their side? I thought that was pretty dirty sweet. Basically the whole episode was him recording the events in his personal log, and then deciding he's gonna live with this secret and deletes the log at the end.

captain sisko is my favorite captain and best character in the entire star trek series, in my opinion. you can really see his humanity even though in the end he was born of 'divine' means and unhuman intentions.
has anyone ever wondered how many std's kirk got from sleeping with all those multicolored, multilimbed, multinaveled female aliens? in the name of the federation it was his DUTY :P
-
IDK, but it couldn't have been much more than William Reiker
-
it got really rediculous in that episode where he had sex with this "person" whose race had eliminated sex and the need for having two sexes. all of their race is hermaphordidic. eeeewwww.
"is that your phaser digging into my thigh?"
thats what hyperpenicillin is for!

Ewww. This is a topic that wants seriously to be left alone.
