k i heared ALOT of ppl saying that pie is getting old etc and that the small games
witch go realy fast r REALY booring. hey i havnd seen any ppl latly who still think pie is cool >.> so i just wana know .. did we grow over pie
( i say YES :P)
-
people still like pie.
people still like short games.
people still like lopng games.

A game every now and then on Pie is ok. I don't really hate this map, because I've played many fun games on it, mostly team-games. Not every game on Pie is a short game. Even Levi and Paco have had a long one on it already. Just make sure that all players/teams are equal.
-
Yeah, I think Pie can be fun when the game is balanced.
The teams should be hand picked evenly instead of just saying N v S or whatever. FFA is generally a short game because the stronger players overpower the weaker ones easily.
One possible solution would be to recreate the pie DLL with some restrictions, for example a lot less ore. Perhaps disable some weapons like ESG. (It's too easy to sit in your base and make ESG)
Or perhaps code something that lowers your unit population limit.
Pie is one of those maps that people like to play over and over (sorta like pop music :( *puke*) but it can be fun once in a while.
There's probably other modifications that could be done to make pie more fun.
-
pie is fine when it's balanced and there is a chance for all teams involved. However, when they are unbalanced, A bigger map would be nice, as that gives the weaker team (i.e. the one I'm on (I weaken it, :heh: ) a little more time to build up a defense and prepare for a strike of their own. I know that some of us can only beat lev if he's busy attacking another player, or if he doesn't see a single super going for his only CC ( :P at mezza about that game)
-
i genraly dont like the original pie because the ore out back of ur base and even your inside mine is random. New coded dll's are better because we can make the maps fair.
team games are good on pie but so are 1v1's, its just, because its a closed map there is not much action, mainly building up and moving units around. so i dont realy like long games on pie.
open maps are better because more action and movement. like enter the dragon.
also what do you think about rare inside your base like on pie or outside like on some other maps?
-
Pie is the s***!!
-
PIE is fun with 6 way FFA
-
lev, I prefer how the ore is in la corr: you have a chance at getting a 3 bar, but you need to settle for less until you find it if you want to keep up with your opponent(s)

Ore on La Cor isn't exactly good. Its too much.
-
Back on WON Pie was the most played map, mainly because it was the most fair map back then.
La Corrida isn't really a good map as some players might be tuck with a single 1 bar for rare.
-
I dont realy like La Corrida or Flood Plain because there is just too much ore on the maps. You can get many smelters and vec facs up and its mainly just mass units. not fun..
What do people think is too much? Should 3bar's be on maps at all? Where ? Are the new maps ok? etc
-
Personally I think it's more fun with a few vehicles that has to be used strategically rather than mass battles..
Also, from what I understand of the game, New Terra is a hostile environment, and it's hard to live off the planet. However, with 2 bars and 3 bars easily availible, survival becomes simple. This of course leads to massive armies rolling around :P
-
So then my corse of action is clear... a map full of singles...
-
lol -- thank you for adding "i couldn't care less" :P
i don't play much multi games, as u guys know.. i'm either too busy (coding) or i can't run the games you are running - compatibility issues, and finally i SUCK at it
-
k so 5 ppl think pie is still good and 7 ppl think pie needs a replacement
5 ppl think that short games r still fun and 7 ppl think that short games r bad
i realy think we need a fun map that doesnt give you TO much ore so that you can just get HUGE armys but that does make the game long ... something like a huge square witch is pretty big and doesnt have alot of hills at least not near your base . and maybe a 2 bar ore and a 2 bar rare ore. that way it will take long and the winner is the one with the best strategie and not the best in preforming a set of commands realy fast ( witch it is at pie short games)
-
A map like flood plains should be LOS with its s*** loads of ore but make them all 1 bar and put a few high yeild 3 bar in the middle and watch the sparks fly. One of the green world maps is made perfectly with the Ore and all double every where and rare in the middle you have to fight for high class ore or you can just battle it out with emp sticky rgp and micro
Pie is great when you have a bunch of people that arent going to alli with each other out of some personal vendetta. But Pie gets annoying with all its bottle necks and poorly placed ore.
-
na i dont like it when there is something in the middle......... but thats a persenal thing ><
-
Long games are way better than all. As long as there is no betraying or whatnot;
Everyone has an army, and can work together, and FEEL like they are a part of something. It's really fun, and not all about the madness button clicking!!!
Pie is old, even though I did a project with PIE at school..
-
Having things in middle is bad because it gives the one holding middle more power than the others.
-
i agree with highlander
-
I think the idea of having things in the middle is that it's hard to hold the middle. Especially if people have to go through the middle to attack each other. If you're holding the middle, then people have to go through you. In a two player game it kinda sucks, but with more than two players, I think you get the idea.

i say 3.14159265 is old and needs to be updated or better yet replaced

I have started to replace it - wiki.outpostuniverse.net/Improved_Pie_Chart (http://www.wiki.outpostuniverse.net/Improved_Pie_Chart)
