Title: Greetings...
Post by: Goldo on September 11, 2005, 05:14:38 AM
Hello,

I've been a reader on these boards for a few weeks now, and did pop into the IRC room once also.

I've had Outpost 2 since it was released, during a move it got sort of lost amongst the stuff, and around 3 months ago now I found it and decided to reinstall it. Glad I did, i'm just as addicted to it as I used to be - time permitting of course as I have a very busy job, so I play when I have the time to - if I do its mainly weekends.

Id like to start playing some Multiplayer when I can, but totally unsure on how to do this now. I mostly play Single player colony games - mainly Eden starship as thats the only one with a pretty big map and an AI player - just a shame theres only 5 Colony Games in total :(

Its really good to see a site along with a strong community  still supporting the game. A great site also :)

Regards

Hey there, Goldo

Glad you found us, and yes, DO drop in on IRC once in a while. With the WON gone, it's the only way to play multi-player games.

About the colony maps: you'll be happy to know we're creating a LOT more of those, in the past, and in the future. Not to toot my own horn, but there's also a single-player campaign in the make called Outpost : Renegades (http://renegades.outpostuniverse.net/) and there's 2 more projects on totally new outpost-games, one is in OP1-style (MIA), and the other in OP2-style, with an exciting new 3D-engine.

Just check out all the forums, and you'll find a lot of projects still alive (some just barely) or you might want to check out the programming forums, if you are up to it, so you can even code your own missions/maps

Hey Eddy,

thank you for the welcome,

Some exciting stuff happening then, the 3d engine looks quite promising :) be mega cool to have OP2 in 3d - be pretty much a totally new game

I'll check out renegades, sounds interesting :)

As for programming, well I'm pretty poor at that hehe, used to be able to code in Visual Basic & Delphi - but thats long gone :(

Welcome, glad u like the game as much as we do!

Yea IRC is where we meet to chat and play. For multiplayer setup, there are two ways we play with each other, direct tcp/ip and over a vpn.
