IE is full of security holes, as most of you (should) know. Many of them allow an attacker to execute any arbitrary command on your PC.

It also crashes constantly (the newer versions). And if you use an older version -- well, it doesn't support anything except really basic HTML.

Its not to do with blocking popups, its that it sucks so much, you can get a virus from being sent to a jpg link.

Also its to do with how much firefox owns, it can be skined, its got extensions etc!

..and FireFox has bugs.. so whats the best thing to use .. ?

but i do like all the extra features they put on firefox like the DOM inspector & media inspector.. I use both now: IE for general browsing, and firefox if IE makes a mess of things (as it does sometimes with javascripts)

Folks, Opera 8 is faster than Firefox. Download Opera.

Opera has bad support for certain formatting.

Firefox/Mozilla are supposedly more DOM complaint than other browsers out there. Also since firefox is based on the Mozilla core it's been tested, and most importantly, it's 100% open source.

Hmm, firefox doesn't seem to work to well on my forum page.. The upwards scrolling marquee (With stop on mouseover) below the banner.

Is there a way to custom skin firefox? Or do u have to use their premade skins?

IE also has some problems with transparent pngs.

I've been using Firefox for two years now and it works just fine, I don't miss anything.
And I like the wikipedia-search-bar and tabbed browsing.

This is the code I used:
Code: [Select]
<marquee direction="up" width="300" height="80" scrollamount="1" onMouseover="this.scrollAmount=0" onMouseout="this.scrollAmount=1" border="1"><center>Welcome to EQT RPG!</center></marquee>

It works fine in IE but doesn't work at all in Firefox.

FireFox
ur choice; but FireFox doesn't display all sites correctly because of those bugs !

2 examples (check them in IE, and then see how FireFox displays them):
http://www.eddy-b.com/tm/ (http://www.eddy-b.com/tm/)  (click the topics below Select topic - and see what happens)
http://www.scarlet.be/ultratop/nl/weeklist...ist=UTSINGLESVL (http://www.scarlet.be/ultratop/nl/weeklistsnl.html?hitlist=UTSINGLESVL) (move mouse over the links below "de ultratop charts")

It's obvious FireFox has problems with its CSS and DHTML. I'm not saying IE does it 100% bugfree - but at least it gets displayed correctly!
Everybody's entitled his/her oppinion, and this is mine: as long as they don't get those bugs fixed, i'll stick to IE. I know IE is a pain in the butt, but i've learned to cope with it.  B)

Well, are you thinking of a version before Opera 8? I pretty much have 99.9% readibility of sites. And since this browser can pass off as IE, I can go more places than any other browser.

Opera has always been cutting edge, and currently is cutting edge.

And for the extremely lazy, why bother downloading a new browser when one already comes packaged with the OS? And I don't mean just Windows and IE here. There are many OSes that come packaged with a browser that work just fine. I see no need to waste time and harddrive space in getting another.

And as for IE. The only thing I've really seen in other browsers that I might like to have in IE is tabbed browsing. But really, it's not that big of a deal. I really have no complaints about IE.

I like firefox and all, but what gets on my nerves that the damn thing crashes. (some of the memory leaks and dl delays i traced to plugins) but it still will hog memory and crash or psudo-crash (it is unresponsive but starts responding again).  <_<

Realy, the only thing keeping me using it is the tabbed windows. And then theres that delay at start. Granted ie launches so fast b/c it is fairly integrated into windows, but the delay gets on my nervers.

I would use a FTP client for FTP, like FlashFXP, CuteFTP etc. Much better to use a client desgined just for FTP for it so you can get the easy of use and features etc.

Another reason to use firefox is themes and extsions, like Adblock, which can means you can block any ad, images, flash etc on a web page with a right click and then view the wbe page with no ads.

Talking about ftp.... my CuteFTP has this nasty bug, that during (or just after) a file transfer it hangs up, and then i have to disconnect & reconnect to get it going again - it doesn't even stop the hanging transfer by using the <stop> button.

But it IS a good ftp program (specially for ppl on dialups) - u can cue up many files, then double-click and they all get upload in one go (if it doesnt 'stall' again.. lol)

I much prefere FlashFXP, simple view of local (or site) view on one side, then site (or local) on the other.
