Exploitable Tactics: 1) Bomber Drones 2) Missiles Bomber Drones are not manually controlled, but are rather given a specific mission to bomb a specific target. You can recall them prematurely, but otherwise you have no control over them. This makes them better for targetting stationary targets, such as a Command Center. When you want to select a target, the interface will tell you if the drones have sufficient fuel to reach the target, and then will express if they would have enough fuel to return to base. Bomber Drones also, when not in use, must be landed at a refuel pad at the Drone Factory, otherwise they will fly in circles around your Command Center, until they run out of fuel or an additional Drone Factory is built. Thus you can build more Bomber Drones than you have refuel pads, but you run the risk of having some run out of fuel and crashland in your base unless you heavily micromanage them. To counter them, you must have weapons that can hit air targets. The three weapon systems that the Survivalists possess that can hit them are Laser Beams, Acid Cloud, and Lightning Rods. Otherwise, Meteor Defense structures can shoot at them, though these will prioritize meteors over drones, if both are within weapons range. The Survivalists can develop research to provide an early warning system; the Observatory that will detect Drones from a great distance away and give a visual indicator, both on the minimap, and in main view of the current target of Bomber Drones, to give them a chance to move their forces around to get ready for the Bombers. --- Missiles are stored in an underground facility, inside the spaceport. The main launch pad is either clear or provides a place for the RLV to land at. If you want to fire a missile, the launch pad must be clear and the launch pad opens up to reveal the missile silo underneath it. You can launch multiple missiles at a time, but each must fully clear the facility's launch pad before the next can be fired. The Terraformers can build an Observatory that gives them the ability to determine where the missile will land and what type of missile it will be, thus giving the Terraformers an early warning of where and what is heading for them, allowing them to move their forces around as needed. Two meteor defenses, or one mass driver shot can destroy a Missile. However, this always produces a Rain of Fire. A hunter-killer however can destroy a missile in space without producing a Rain of Fire. --- You can also construct Hunter Killers and launch them into space. These are used to destroy other Hunter Killers or Missiles and doesn't produce a Rain of Fire. They can also be used to destroy Starship Components and Satellites, but this will produce a Rain of Fire. These provide strategic options for dealing with your opponent, whether it is to slow down their starship, take out missiles, or eliminate valuable satellites. If there are other enemy Hunter Killers in space, they will automatically kamikaze with your Hunter Killer if you target a Starship Component or Satellite (but not defend a missile). So keep that in mind when choosing targets. Hunter Killers will also automatically kamikaze with a missile, as the strategic benefit of destroying one is of great importance. --- The Observatory is also used to: 1) Give an early warning of impending meteors and thus meteors no longer cause a morale penalty, unless the meteor actually hits one of your structures; then it will give the normal morale penalty. 2) It will tell you what starship components, satellites, and hunter-killers are in orbit. Hunter Killers are used to either destroy other Hunter Killers (no Rain of Fire produced) or used to destroy starship components / satellites / missiles (produces Rain of Fire except for missiles). 3) It allows you to direct your hunter killers to attack specific targets in space.
