Win 95 Multiplayer
« on: January 26, 2004, 10:06:27 PM »
I do realize that Sierra disabled the err, whatever it was before I even got to play 1 online game, and I do realize that the new way to play is using ICR chatline or the new game service that someone around here is making, but do either of these work on Win 95? I tried already but I wasn't succesful.

The IRC should work with any operating system, as a matter of fact, they have it for Linux.

The Outpost 2 IRC link just below the Shoutbox is a link to a zip file containing the IRC program. Just download, unzip, and run (ignore any registration dialogs you may see).

what we do to play now is meet in the IRC chat room.
one person hosts a TCP/IP game, tells other people his/her IP.
people join and we play.

Ok call me a computer noob but I'm still having trouble. You have no idea how old this computer is and its not as simple as extracting files on my broken winXP computer. And the page for the Outpost 2 Multiplayer Network can't be displayed properly because this artifact of a computer doesn't have something called Microsoft Virtual Machine. Please HElp!

Okay..

Here is the link to 1st Setup (of the WON replacement):

http://outpost.sytes.net/op/mmpn/Client.zip

And the IRC is:
http://www.insurrectionlan.co.uk/Outpost2IRC.zip

(VB6 Runtimes)
http://outpost.sytes.net/vbrun60sp5.exe

But, I see that you have difficulties with Java script and possibly zip files... so:

http://www.xfir.net/files

(Has the 4 updates and the IRC and Client in exe self-extractor format)

Okay thank you sooo much. I'm not really this dumb I'm really just pretty lazy after being spoiled by new technology. Gosh I hope I can get my computer fixed. Anyway I think I like these forums, people are friendly.
