we should make cars out of nerf, then accidents wouldn't be as bad

... yeah, and that little indestructible black box they put on airplanes, why don't they make the whole airplane out of that stuff?

because it isn't truely indestructable.  It's just small enough that it is more resistant to damage

If you did build it entirely out of [black box material], then after getting over making the plane fly, even if it did crash, it would still be susceptible to 'snapping/breaking' in half due to the planes dimensions.

Perhaps less likely to snap right down the center (longways), or doors to be ripped off tho.

More secure cockpit as well I would assume

You know, the comment was never really intended to be taken seriously. Kind of like how a nerf car just doesn't seem feasible. But whatever, you all seem to be having fun commenting, so have at it. :P

and yeah, I figured weight

Btw, CK, if you crashed in a nerf car, and the other person wasn't in a nerf car, then you could be in big trouble. Big heavy cars protect the people inside. If a car crashes into a bus, who do you think is going to feel it more?

you wouldn't feel it at all in a Nerf car, Nerf cars would absorb the force

You'd feel something.

Maybe we should break out the physics equations here. Model the accident according to the mass of the two vehicles, and the amount of "padding" material to absorb some of the shock in the crash. We probably also want to throw the speed of the vehicles in there. I'm sure we could at least come up with an estimate as to the amount of force the occupants of the vehicle would experience.

Not too sure where my physics books went though, and it's been much too long for me to try any of this with any confidence.

Well, on the bright side, you wouldn't really have to wait for an airbag to deploy.  :P  (Just hope the steering wheel isn't something hard).
