Idea For New Op2 Version
« on: September 17, 2006, 02:48:03 AM »
Everybody knows that there are cheats in OP2, but we can't use em, becuse of the fear that other players could cheat on Multiplayer, so they disabled the cheat, but why  don't they make an OP2 version and make OP2 cheat without an option of multiplayer, so they'l have to play in the original OP2
Example and thoughts: Someone goes to play OP2 Cheat version, he opens and plays skirmish. he won and he goes now to the IRC and someone ask him to play on Multi or Ham, he activates OP2 cheat thinking "now i can win becuse of the cheats!" but no, when he clicks on Multiplayer the message will appear: Multiplayer disabled.
So he's have to exit OP2 cheat and enter the OP2 (normal) and play multi without cheats.

If somebody could do this.
WE could cheat and play colony makers, campaign, but not cheat in Multiplayer

Yeah we were thinking of puting a cheats enabled version for download so people can use them in single player or vs one another. It would just be a exe with cheats enabled with a diff version that the current version so you cant play with people with the normal version.

Because those "GET LOTS OF ORE BECAUSE WE RAN OUT OF IDEAS!!!" levels suck and everyone likes to skip them.

If you still have an op2 cd, just install the old version.

I think they main reason why they didn't was because they were lazy. :P

It'd take 5-10 minutes to put up a cheat enabled exe for download, and only 2 minutes max to reply to a post and say cheating is bad.

Well, like Highlander said, learn to play the game without the cheats (at least that's my opinion).

The game gets kinda boring when you just sit and cheat your way through it.

And yes, I am lazy. Mainly because I end up being the one who has to put this EXE up all while being pestered for half a million other things by certain people (*cough* *cough* Arklon).

Heh, yep. And I can completely understand being lazy about it too. Not exactly the most fun thign to do.

Btw, you don't need to use the CD version necessarily. Just use the current exe and change 1 byte (and the version number). Then all the other patches will still be available. Just rename the exe and throw it in the same folder. (You might want to also copy a renamed .ini file, since I think it reads one of the same name as the .exe you ran). But yeah, that'd be easy enough to include in the download package.
