I think you should be able to drive a scout up to a lab and steal info, you get a choice of which completed research topic they have to steal. Then the scout has to transmit the info, which takes time(bigger the topic the more time it takes). Then if you get it all, you have to decrypt it which would take anywhere from 1/4 the time to 1/2 the time to research. Also you can choose another topic once the first is stolen, until the scout is destroyed. There could be a limit per vehicle (battery life?). Or instead of a scout there could be a new vehicle, and scout or new vehicle, you should be able to upgrade transmission speed.

scout couuld have a new usage for cover operation like steal technologie, spy,
passive watch (tell you when ennemie leave his base).

mabe give you a defence boost, because they will be able to warn about the posisiton and strenth of an enemy attack, allowing your forces to form a proper defence formation and never be caught by suprise

And as for what Starfox said for upgradeing the transmission speed, i would just have normal speed and speed when you have a satalite.

I kinda like that idea Starfox put forth. Maybe just make scouts cheap and expendible. Used once and then thrown away/self destructed.

Maybe just have the research points they're getting added to yours? (At least for that tech?)

but it still comes down to  how does a scout do that.  I suggested tapping into the tube and monitoring that way.  And a wireless hack through the RCC.

Yep, have to agree with the people that say scouts should steal info.

That's pretty much how it works in OP2. There are even some missions where you use scouts to retrieve info from labs. The scout is a special recon/intellegence unit, so it'll have alot of special electronic equipment onboard, that can somehow hack it's way into the labs data.

Also in those missions the scout transmitted the info back to the colony via radiowaves or something like that.

Well, using scouts to steal info is realistic enough for me.

Their main task is after all intellegence gathering, so they will have lots of special built in equipment. Maybe they can carry a couple of colonists aboard that can plug it into the labs servers when they arrive :P
