Xfir.net Down
« on: October 20, 2005, 05:30:59 PM »
Since I was curious on what xfir was doing I went over to my address bar and entered xfir.net. Does anybody know what happened to xfirs website and why it's coming up as "suspended page"? I find it interesting. Since Xfir was the old admin I still feel like there is an amount of respect that is owed to him.

Its unknown why his page is suspended I think he is hosted by punboy.  Maybe if you had some other way of contacting Xfir.

His page has been down for like a week or so.

The plot thickens.

If I had a beard, I'd stroke it.

Anyone have contact with Punboy anyway? Seriously, seems like he's never around ---

I don't think it's suspended, actually.

That page is used by the server when it can't find the virtual host record for the domain (i.e. it recognizes the domain in the name server but Apache, the webserver doesn't know where to look for the data for that site). So it loads a default page like that.

It's possible that the account actually got deleted from cpanel (that wouldn't make sense, since the domain is still resolving to the server, but who knows).

The suspended page says blatantly "This Account Has Been Suspended" and has a colorful background.

So what's happened is either the webserver configuration has been edited and screwed up by hand, or the xfir.net account has been deleted from cpanel.

For anyone who has an account hosted by him -- Does your FTP account still work? If it doesn't, I'd imagine that the account got deleted (since all sub-accounts get killed too).

I still speak to him from time to time. I actually spoke to him on MSN since that happened. Apparently he is being switched to a new server. I heard something about the server he was on ran out of space. I'm not sure why it would still be down though.

I have a gmail address for xfir in case somebody needs to get a hold of him. Just PM me if you want it. I just don't want to post it here for all the webcrawlers to find.

Haha. Yea, he said he was getting moved to a new server.  I am also having problems with my website (www.void-media.net)  which is also hosted by punboy, so it seems almost anything punboy hosted is down.  But He reassures us it'll be up soon, so yay. *wonders how much mail i've been bouncing since the server's been down*
