That's funny, because I got this game the same way. My friend let me borrow a really old cd he found in his attic. It was all black on the underside instead of blueish clear, and it made weird noises in my CD rom, but it worked anyways. Unfortunately, shortly after that my dad decided to cut my games off. Now I can't play.
But anyways - great to have you here. You really should download IRC, because we do a lot of the talking here.
If you ever get bored you can go to the bottom two forums from the main screen. Those have riddles, and fun little games devised by our members.
You can also download tools for OP2 from the tools page. I don't really know what most of them do, but I know that there is one for making maps, and a bunch of other stuff. Talk to Leviathan or Hacker to find out more about them if you want to use them.
If you're a good coder, know a programming language, or anything else related to game making, there are several projects going on on OP2. One of them is for a 3-D OP3, and some other interesting ideas. There's forums for each one. If you want to help out, then go talk to the people in charge of those projects (I'm not sure who they are) and they will be glad to accept your help.
In my opinion, this community is one of the most calm communities around. I've been to other forums, and there are fights all the time. Here, however, if someone causes trouble or tries to start a fight, no one really joins in, and the administrators take care of the rebel. This makes our community much more stable, because fights always end with threats to leave the community.
But what I'm really trying to say, is that you don't have to feel threatened by anyone here, because there is really no cause for anyone to threaten anyone. So feel at home and enjoy the great game of OP2 and all that we have built around it.
