But isn't the purple mass in-game a computer overlay? In the first mission of Eden, the Blight spreads without being visible.

Flashy, the deep purple is a computer overlay as well.  In this case it is part of a temperature map, but it kind of looks like the topographical minimap with the blight appearing, lol
