An Idea For Future Coding Projects
« on: March 01, 2010, 04:30:04 PM »
I think we all know by now that the main holdups on any coding project here are directly related to the team being used.  One thing I've seen many other games use for fan-made content is a roster of sorts.  Often, columns are used to denote specific areas of the the project (concept art, coding, 3d modeling, etc) and each row is designated to a specific person, marking where their abilities lay.  While we are a small community, I think we could benefit from something similar.  Instead of skills, listing availability could help find replacements (however temporary or permanant) should the original team start falling apart.

What do you guys think?

I think you're not CK9.

Uhh, anyways. It sounds like a great idea. So basically a roster of "I am guaranteed free this time, but not this time" as well as our skill-set to determine who can step in for projects?

That's the basic idea of it.

well, when I thought this would be a good idea for here, I was looking at this:

I personally think that was a good layout and that, with some modification, it could be useful for us.

Gee, I wonder what project you have in mind for this, CK9?

None in particular, but I've seen all the OP3's fall out, and we have the talk of getting a group together for an OP2 remake, so I'd rather see a contigency plan, heh

If there were enough support I'm sure CK9 is justified in whatever he's doing.

Such a table could indeed be useful. Only problem I see is I can normally not tell when I will have time, although I usually have some free hours every week.

Sounds like an excellent idea.

We don't even have to make it for specific projects; it would be nice just to have a list of options, sort of like a monument to what this community can do.

I would like some sort of rating (from 1 to 5 or something) for proficiency in a skill, because, for example, I can code, but I'm not awesome at it. I'm more like a do-it-all.
