It seems i feel like making maps again with the ampper.
The greenworld tile sets got me inspired so ehhh.......

I want to know how to make brand new tiles, and of course edit existing ones.

Right now im planning to use the bitmap tool which i can use to paint with.
If there is a better way to 'paint' or w/e it called, i will be happy to hear it.
Also i need to know the dimensions of a single tiles for using the bitmap.
Any other tips would be nice.

Then after im done making tiles and stuff i need to know what kind of file to make the bitmap.(JGG or w/e thats one of them).

Finally i'll need to know how to extract the new image and place the image into the mapper.

I plan on making scenery and perhaps a metalic terrain, a molten rock terrain with red lava cracks in it, and hopefully others. The scenery will perhaps consist of cylinders and boxes or even other stuff found in an industry site. And perhaps i'll make toxic waste (green lava) and it can be a meltdown from a nuclear powerplant that is made of terrian. Oh a brownish mud or dirt-like terrain would also do nice.

Any terrain ideas would be nice.

To get you started:

The original tiles are 32x32 pixels with 8bit color (palettized). Several tiles may be stored in one bmp-file as one column of tiles (and nothing else). Original op2 uses some non-standard-bmp, but regular bmp should also work as long as it obeys the restrictions above.

In order to use those tiles, you may have to put them into your op2 directory or even into the vol-files (the mapper can pack/unpack vol-files; but you better do it with an extra op2 install to keep multiplayer working).

You should be able to use your own tiles just with the mapper. You can add new tilesets to any existing map, but most maps using the original tilesets seem to use almost the maximum number of tiles, so it might be a good idea to remove unused original tilesets or even start with none of them (when creating a new map).
After adding tilesets to a map, the map needs some info on special tiles (walls, tubes, lava, etc.). Its called something like "Terrain" in the mapper and accassible over a button in the map window.

You'll have to figure out the details on your own, as I never really created my own tileset.
