A poll would just be inconclusive, since it's not about what other people think, it's about what can be proven.

This poll is very conclusive, only if Hooman and Wooman are the only ones who vote.

Pfft, don't look at me. I'm not voting. :P

Unless..., maybe I already have?
Or perhaps I'll wait for a few more answers, and then vote.

Not really knowing Hooman that well, but it real doesn't seem like him to attract attention, other then with some cool code that no one cares about.

You'd be surprised.

despite having a point with Hooman not being one to attract attention, this IS the internet we're talking about. That thing with no identity?

A tracert towards their IPs might clear things up a bit.

1 problem with that: While GM's can see the IP's of mods and other members, we can't see Admin IP's.  Only Hooman, Galactic, and Hacker can see admin IP's

Ahh yes, I was waiting for an IP reply from CK9. Knowing you have GM status, I expected you'd look after that was brought up. Remembering my days as a GM, I also knew you couldn't see that info for admins. :P The mystery continues!

But then, I also wondered if you'd tell even if you did know. How much would you tell? Would you feel guilty about using your GM status to solve the mystery? Would you have spoiled the fun? ;)

I've known the IP thing since I was first appointed as a GM :P

1) I'd give little cryptic hints at first.
2) Nope, it's just another tool at my disposal.
3) Eventually :P

That statement.... was very peculiar for a knowing party such as yourself.

Hooman, you know whether or not Wooman has any relation to you. I am not trying to get you to ADMIT it (as this is quite a cool puzzle, but please don't let me go to the grave not knowing). Now if the two of you knew each other, or are the same person, then that line makes perfect sense as you are playing a joke on us.

Now if you two are not related, then it is even more intriguing that you picked that wording, as there was no known fun initially as you were kind of thrown into this when Wooman joined. Most people would not have taken this extra logical step to try to throw us off, but while I just finished typing what is above I realized, you are not like most people (take as a compliment).

Going back to the linked scenario, you could have planned this out, and anticipated our responses.  I may be one of the harder ones to predict because I am relatively new, and I don't post much. You would have known someone would have brought up the IP issue, so that was easily expected. This rambling post was not.

Bottom line: I shouldn't post without sleep.

Oh Hooman or CK9, one more thing, just a simple yes or no question.

Do either Hooman's or Wooman's IP number sum to 383? IE. 192.168.0.1 would be 361.  I did it in this fashion, since I enjoy puzzles. If no.... who's IP do I have?

Sum?  What the heck are you talking about?  Everybody knows that a . means you multiply the numbers.  Just remember not to include that zero, of course.  So you're really looking for it to be 32256.

The nature of hooman's personality makes him quick to recognize when he has an opportunity for some fun.  Therefore symantics is useless.

Yea I chose the sum of each byte so it is not unique, so if in the slim chance I figured it out, no one else would.

And technically you are not multiplying them, you interpret the IP as a 32 bit number (128 for IP V6), so in WWW.XXX.YYY.ZZZ the actual number is ZZZ + 256^1*YYY + 256^2+XXX + 256^3 * WWW. In your case, how can you determine if the number 5000 is 1.1.50.100 or 1.1.100.50 or even 100.50.1.1. Additionally there could be no zeros.

That is the local IP, which has nothing to do with the one I was talking about. Note the suspect IP is 383, I used a common local IP since normally IP's are not interpreted this way because there are many collisions. Roughly 4 million in fact.

I used that ip as an example so I wouldn't reveal much, or give out some random person's IP. I enjoy a good puzzle as well.

The reason I said that was another one, but I hope I don't have to detail it.

Second solution: Have them both on IRC talking at the same time.

What does that prove?  Heck, I could log on as myself, Arklon, Betaray, BlackBox, Combine Cruiser, and Tellaris all at the same time and have a conversation with all of "them".
