Rules On Registration

I was thinking we should have ChanServ/NickServ/whatever PM users IRC rules and a link to them when they first register (on IRC, not on the forums).

We could also put the link in the topic in #outpost2.

Yeah and not everyone registers. Plus MOTD can be ignored by some clients.

LOL
Whats all this about the rules.  You all know damn well that even if people see the rules, which can be found on the site I believe, they will still violate and break the rules.  Posting them up like spam message doesnt really help any thing.

Yeah, I think I'm inclined to agree with Freeza. Besides, the rules are mostly just common sense. I think things are fine the way they're setup now. You can't do much against the trouble makers other than kick/ban them as they come. (The ones that don't listen when they're warned, or ones that clearly go too far).

What we could do is enable email authentication when signing up on the nickserv, and include the rules in the email we send. This might get people to actually READ the rules.

Yeah, but that still requires them to register their nick.

Yeah, most of the spammers / rule breakers we've had so far never registered their nick. Besides, if their client ignores the MOTD, that's their problem.. ignorance doesn't excuse their actions.

How do you register your nick?  :heh:

When you're online, type

/NickServ register <password> <email>

where <password> is your desired password and <email> is your email address.
