At approximately 6:02AM CST (8/17/2011), I lost connectivity with the IRC server (irc.outpost2.net). I've been making constant reconnect tries since then. I've flushed my DNS cache and even restarted my comptuer. Is there something down or is my connection just hosed?

also can't reach it.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm not getting any ping replies from the host name or the direct IP address registered, but I honestly never tried to ping it when it was functional, so I don't know for certian if that is normal behavior. Any idea who is hosting it or who to contact about it?

Having problems myself

Well I'm glad its not just me. I've been trying to connect all day. Still no luck.

I can't ssh into the machine to see what is wrong, so seems like something might be wrong with the ISP there; I'll talk to Galactic for more details when I can.

Thank you kindly sir. My withdrawl symptoms are progressing at a sad rate. :(

Is IRC ever going to be back up? Or is this kind of outage normal?
-
Does anyone know who actually owns the server that is supposed to host IRC? I would be interested in making contact with them and trying to take an active role in getting it back up.

The hosting agreement for the server that IRC ran on expired; IRC is difficult to find places to host for cheap -- We may have an alternative though. Keep posted...

Alright, well let me know what the end result is. If needed I may be able to help somewhere, I have connections in the hosting industry to an extent.
