okay, here's the deal:
refurbishhed HP Pavillion dv6000, Atheros AR5007 802.11 b/g WiFi Adapter, Windos Vista Home Premium
When running anyhting that uses Java, the connection starts to shift to being local only. I'll still be using the internet, things are going through, but it is so choppy that I can't do much of anything. I've tried googling WiFi connection problems with relation to Java, but nothing comes up that seems to be pertanant to my problem. If anyone has any idea as to the cause of this, I'd appreciate the help.

Is the wireless network using encryption? If so try disableing it and see if you get a different result.

it's encrypted, but disabling is not an option. I've tried another laptop, and it didn't experience the same issue. Differen't company, differen't adapter, windows XP

More information please
32 or 64 bit OS
Version of Java and 32 or 64bit version?
Java application or a web applet?
Using the windows wireless control application or a hp bundled one?
I wouldn't be surprised if a bundled wireless control application was written in java!

as easyest solution a driver update could help
if not dont blame me ^^

I think you're overlooking the obvious here. It's Java. Of course it's choppy. :P
