Well few of you will know what im talking about before you read this post.

A few members back in december/january had a chanch to test a version of this project.

OPUON stands for Outpost Universe Opponent Network. I took the name from the login screen on Leeor's OPU Tool (http://tool.outpostuniverse.net/).

My project is a seprate project. It is a project to create a application for users to use to create and join games quickly and easily. So it will be a kind of add on to IRC, the plan is for you to use your IRC client for chating and OPUON when you want to play a game.

I hope to get back working on this in the next few months but dont expect anything soon.

How's the project going?
Is this some kind of Hamachi replacement?

No we will still be using hamachi.

With OPUON you logon and host a game, all other users see that you have a game hosted and they can then join up. OPUON will include a IRC client so it could be your IRC client replacement.

Does it automatically detects all the games when someone creates one, or it's manual?

I wanted to get a alpha done for the anniversary but dont think its gonna happen for a while. Been too busy to work on it :(

Well sorry to all that there has not been more progress on this project.

We hoped to have more done by now. We have not given up on it!

As I am the main one working on it its been on hold for a while as my degree takes priority.

I am pleased to say that Galactic is seting up a server for this :)

We are still looking for any help on it. Thanks

What exactly is so special about this OPUON thing? It hosts games for us? I can do that by myself without any extra programs.

Think of it as a replacement WON/SIGS.   It is a step up closer to allow some kind of automated updating system too.
The main idea is so that people don't have to download MIRC.   For some reason, some people are paranoid about it/their parents are.   This might be some sort of work around for those people.

There are no more OP2 updates as it is; we don't need an automatic updating system.
And we have Hamachi to find games and chat if necessary.
Don't forget, we've already tried to make a real WON replacement many years ago, and it failed.  That had its own server and everything.  OPUON seems to be little more than a Hamachi add-on.

Uh... This doesn't do that. Look at the pictures. It clearly shows Hamachi being used.
I have to agree with Arklon.  This sounds like it's just another extra program you'd have to open which really doesn't do anything special.

Of course, I could be wrong, but I remember how useful OPU Tool wasn't...

Regularly:
Step 1: Open IRC
Step 2: Chat/etc.

With OPU Tool:
Step 1: Open Outpost 2
Step 2: Click Multiplayer/Internet (opens OPU Tool)
Step 3: Set path to IRC
Step 4: OPU Tool won't load IRC anyways
Step 5: Get frustrated
Step 6: Delete OPU Tool and open IRC the regular way.

I'm not saying it wasn't a noble effort Lev, but we can chat and find games already.  Adding extra programs will just confuse people.

Its not like OPU Tool. It may still get made once I have time.

Yes I understand its like another tool that is not needed but it could be instead of IRC for users who are happy with a basic chat (IRC) client. I wanted to make it to make things easier.

Anyway nothing to talk about now apart from is anyone interested in helping out? Skills needed: PHP/MySQL/C#/VB.NET.
